Windows 10 computer wont stay shut down free -

So, I've been having this issue ever since upgrading to Windows 10 where my laptop will not fully shutdown or awaken from sleep mode. This issue only arises after I have my laptop on and running for awhile, but works fine if I only have it on for a few minutes. I've tried turning off fast start up in the choose what the power button does in power options, as well as upgrade my display driver, but none of that seems to of fixed my issue. Does anyone know any other way to resolve this?

You can run the Power troubleshooter to adjust your computer's power settings. The Power troubleshooter checks things like your computer's timeout settings, which determine how long the computer waits before turning off the monitor display or entering sleep mode. Adjusting these settings can help you conserve power and extend your computer's battery life.

In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting. Under System and Security, click power Option. Putting your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying, if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot. Note: After troubleshooting, refer to this section "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting".

Note: The troubleshooting steps in the above links are meant for windows 8, however, you can use the same for windows 10 tech preview as well.

As a "normal" user, I don't feel confident enough in my computer skills to try the clean boot option. Especially since i depend on my computer for school and if it were to be inoperable, that would cause me major problems. This is Microsoft's responsibility to help me fix my problem. My previously perfectly running HP is now having shut-down problems that I cannot resolve.

Also, the sleep function is not operating correctly. I'd really like to actually speak with someone at Microsoft who could walk me through the clean boot. It's not fair that I should have to take my computer somewhere and pay someone to troubleshoot this for me. Your assistance in setting up a Microsoft appointment would be appreciated. How to perform a clean boot in Windows. Thank you. Thanks for your feedback. How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. I have the same issue and have been trying to reach microsoft to resolve it, to no avail.

My laptop will not fully shut down unless I hold down the power button. And once it goes to sleep mode it will not awaken. Microsoft, HELP!! In reply to A. User's post on August 8, Thanks, Lisa. Unfortunately, none of this really helped with the issue. I am not the best with computers so I'm not sure what to really look for in Clean Boot but neither option really helped resolve this issue. But i do these two ones and now my laptop shuts down completely: 1.

This is how I fixed mine. The problem is with Intel. This site in other languages x.
